Collection: BEARS

Gay bears are a subculture within the LGBTQ+ community, primarily consisting of gay or bisexual men who are typically larger, hairier, and often have a more rugged or masculine appearance. The term "bear" originated in the 1980s and was initially used to describe gay men who embodied these characteristics. Over time, the bear community has evolved into a diverse and inclusive group that celebrates body positivity, masculinity, and camaraderie.

Within the bear community, there is a wide range of identities, expressions, and interests. Some individuals may identify as bears, while others may identify as cubs (younger or less hairy men), otters (slimmer and hairier men), wolves (muscular and hairy men), or other related terms. The bear community often organises events, social gatherings, and online forums where members can connect, socialise, and celebrate their shared identity.

While physical appearance plays a role in the bear community, it's important to note that there is no strict definition of what it means to be a Bear. The community values inclusivity and diversity, welcoming individuals of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. Many bears embrace body positivity and reject societal standards of beauty, promoting self-acceptance and confidence.

The Bear community provides a supportive and affirming space for gay and bisexual men who may not conform to mainstream ideals of masculinity and attractiveness. It fosters a sense of belonging, friendship, and pride among its members, contributing to the rich tapestry of LGBTQ+ culture.
